The Data Analyst must have prior experience with global data-driven initiatives involving multiple data sources and target systems requiring data integration. The ideal candidate will also have strong oral and interpersonal skills, and the ability to translate business requirements into technical data requirements.
The Data Analyst responsibilities will center on source system(s) and target system data analysis in support of business data requirements, developing source to target mapping documentation, working closely with Data Architects and Data Integration Developers to translate business requirements into technical specifications to ensure business requirements are implemented accurately and successfully, and supporting user acceptance testing and training activities.
The Data Analyst will be one of the primary interfaces between the Business Stakeholders and the Enterprise Data Services and Analytics Team. As a result, this person will be involved in all activities that impact the business users and/or customers who will be the consumers of the data provided.
Responsibilities include:
Coordinate data analysis activities with business stakeholders Serve as a liaison between the Enterprise Data Services team and business stakeholders Gather, validate, and document data requirements to determine source systems in scope and down to the column/field level, in direct support of business requirements and priorities for specific datadriven related projects Assist in translating business data requirements into conceptual, logical, and physical data models Define data conversions and/or transformations to be performed Analyze target system(s) to determine feasibility to support the data requirements Creating source-to-target data maps to document data attributes to data sources and data targets, including identification and documentation of data transformation or conversion algorithms as necessary Identify and document data standardizations to be performed, data enrichment operations, data validations, data security requirements, and data exception handling processes as necessary Maintain current knowledge of data relationships and system interfaces Assist in knowledge transfer to other technical staff members on business data processes Assist in on-going evaluation of current and new business data requirements to achieve higher operational efficiencies and application/project portfolio alignment Evaluate potential expansion projects, provide data requirements and design for new releases, as necessary Ensure data quality management principles and practices are applied to establish data consistency and accuracy
Basic Qualifications: Strong oral and written communications capabilities Strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical business stakeholders Minimum 3 years experience implementing data integrations between global systems Minimum 3 years experience with identifying and documenting business requirements for datadriven projects (e.g. Data Warehousing, Master Data Management, etc…) Working knowledge of relational databases, SQL data queries, and reports Experience with Metadata management practices Working knowledge of Master Data Management principles Working knowledge of Data Quality Management practices Experience with Agile Development Methods Minimum Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Computer Science Knowledge of data provisioning applying various methods including, Web Services, data views, data exports, reports, etc…
Preferred Skills: Project Management experience or PMP certification Life Sciences industry experience a plus Laboratory Information Management System integration experience preferred Labvantage SQL*LIMS experience strongly preferred Experience with relational databases and writing SQL queries preferred Experience with industry leading ETL tools such as Informatica, IBM DataStage, SAP Data Services, etc… a plus
